OUR MISSION

The Peets Organization for Wellbeing & Emergency Relief (POWER) is dedicated to bridging the gap between adversity and opportunity for HBCU students by providing timely emergency support during critical moments of need. Our mission is to ensure that temporary hardships do not derail the educational journeys of promising scholars. We focus on removing barriers such as food insecurity and unexpected financial burdens to foster the continued academic success and personal growth of students.

At POWER, our mission is not just a statement—it's embodied in every action we take. The name POWER encapsulates the core principles that drive our work:

  • P = Providing Emergency Relief: We are committed to delivering timely and essential support during crises, ensuring that students have the resources they need to overcome immediate challenges.

  • O = Offering Ongoing Support: Beyond immediate relief, we extend continuous assistance, helping students stabilize their lives and regain their footing after facing adversity.

  • W = Welcoming All in Need: Our inclusive and compassionate approach ensures that every student facing hardship feels supported, valued, and empowered to seek help without hesitation.

  • E = Empowering Through Action: We focus on not just providing relief, but also on empowering students to overcome obstacles, fostering resilience and encouraging personal growth.

  • R = Rebuilding and Restoring Hope: Our ultimate goal is to help students rebuild their lives and restore hope, ensuring that temporary hardships do not derail their future aspirations.

Together, these principles form the foundation of POWER. We are committed to making a lasting impact by providing compassionate, effective, and timely relief that transforms lives and strengthens communities.
